I want to design a data-aquisition board which can be used as a general-purpose data logger. It should be small, low power, and very simple to use.

I worked on a similar project previously as an undergraduate at PSU. I am going to borrow the name from that project: BEAD (will explain more in subsequent updates about the name.

Project Goals:

  • RTC with scheduling
  • Minimum one week duration (storage + battery)
  • Up to 4 audio channels
  • 200kHz overall sample rate (continious recordings)
  • Removeable storage

I will use this opportunity to move away from the dsPIC processors I've used previously and attempt to use a ARM processor. I plan to start with STM32 parts and have ordered a NUCLEO-F401RE development board to get aquainted with the tools.
